Soaking in a bath with added herbs, oils and minerals is a wonderful way to take care of the mind and body. There are many types of baths that can be of benefit to you. These simple, natural therapies can be used in the comfort of your own home, all the while relaxing in your bath.

Directions

Once you have gathered the ingredients in the amounts needed to make a batch (whether it is a one-time use or made for multiple sessions) grab yourself a large bowl and pour and mix the items together.
Take some muslin, or some cheesecloth big enough for an herbal soak session (1 to 1 1/2 cup of the ingredients) place it in the muslin or cheesecloth and bag it up and tie it up with twine ready for the next bath.

Ingredients to Put Together

  • 2 cups Epsom Salts
  • 1/2 cup mustard seed powder
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 6 drops of eucalyptus oil
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • Enough for one setting

Instructions

  • Once packaged take out the single serving bag and
    • Tie it directly below the spout as the hot water is filling the tub, once filled drop the bag into the water for the duration of the bath – OR –
    • Draw a bath as hot as you can bear and drop the bag into the water and let the contents of the bag infuse in the water for 20-30 minutes at least.
  • Make sure you gather the contents of the Herbal Soak so the larger contents of the bag do not escape down the drain.
  • If you mix more of the Herbal Soak for more than just one setting, make sure you store the extras in a cool place where moisture cannot reach them.

Herbal baths can be enjoyed daily, weekly, monthly, or at whatever other cadence fits into your life. There’s no wrong way to do it.  Enjoy!
